For Federal cases, there are two ways PDFs and other information get into CourtDrive:
CourtDrive gets the PDF automatically through an eNotice from the court (known as a “free look”). This only works if CourtDrive is set up to receive your eNotices.
You manually import a PDF by clicking the green import button. This pulls the document from PACER and incurs a PACER fee.
Entering an appearance means you get the eNotice—but unless CourtDrive also receives it, we can’t capture the free PDF. Check if your CourtDrive email is listed in the service list on the eNotice.
If it’s missing, add your CourtDrive email as a secondary recipient in your court filing account or see your setup page for options.
CourtDrive has a number of safeguards in place to prevent access to sealed documents. By design, CourtDrive protects against downloading sealed documents.
